sometimes the createsuperuser command fails because of locale

          Description

          Details of fail:
          TypeError: decode() argument 1 must be string, not None

          we should at least document how to circumvent it (LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 ./manage.py createsuperuser)

            Well, this bug report does not seem to be a good example to copy by our
            students. :)

            I think I had similar problem, exporting LANG="pl_PL" helped in my case.
